ORAL CARE

zahnpflege_knd

The oral mucosa is composed of an outer layer of epithelial cells that serves to protect the other layers from invasion by bacterial, fungal or viral pathogens; a middle layer of connective tissue that contains blood vessels, nerves and glandular duct and an inner layer that may not be present in all areas. VivaCell offers highly specialised and reliable models for oral care products, which we have already used for testing compounds of a well known oral care product company and for anti-stomatitis compounds.

In vitro models:
Human primary monocytes, neutrophils, and fibroblast monolayer cultures (comparable to gingival fibroblasts)

Cell lines:

fibroblasts (MRC5, 3T3) etc...
TPRV-1 and CMR1 (capsaicin and menthol receptors) heterologous transfected cells (artificial tongue). Activation of these cells through this nociceptive receptor could mimic the initial steps in neurogenic inflammation and it is suitable to test new analgesic compounds topically applied in oral care.

Parameters:
Inflammatory parameters (PGE2, LTB4, Cytokines etc.)
Cytotoxicity: MTT, LDH, Neutral Red, etc…
Oxygen radical (ROS/isoprostanes) production and phagocytosis
Cell proliferation, Angiogenesis, Healing and migration
Calcium mobilisation and cell death through agonists/antagonists of the VR1 in a heterologous system.
Menthol and capsaicin receptor assays
